James River Hospice is a home-hospice agency based in southside Richmond built on an inter-disciplinary, holistic model of patient care. We strive to meet every one of our patients' needs, whether they are medical, social, spiritual, or emotional.

A good haircut is not often thought of as being an essential part of patient care, but a new hairdo can bring with it an energy and outlook very few other experiences can provide. Similarly, for many of our patients having their nails done is something that has not been available to them for a very long time. The chance to feel refreshed, to see themselves in a new light, and to restore their personal care routines is an immeasurable boost to our patients' spirits.

If you would like to bring your talents as a hairdresser, barber, or nail artist to hospice care, please contact James River Hospice today!

**James River Hospice is following the CDC Guidelines, along with those sanctioned by Medicare related to COVID-19. Acceptance of any case provided to our volunteers is solely at their discretion.**

• provide basic hairdressing/haircut services in the patient's home
• provide basic nail/manicure services in the patient's home
• provide companionship and social interaction to our patients and their families

We are asking for a commitment of 4 appointments per month (1 appointment per week).

Cosmetology certificate/licensure preferred, not required. Must be able to demonstrate skill in nail care/hairdressing.

All volunteers must undergo a background check and drug screen.

All volunteers will be required to attend an orientation detailing the policies and procedures of hospice care, as well as their specific duties and roles.

Please note: James River Home Health and Hospice, Inc. is a for-profit hospice agency. Volunteer engagement is a requirement of Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation § 418.78
