Job Description
Solar Works DC is a newly designed low-income solar installation and job training program spearheaded by the Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) and the Department of Employment Services (DOES). Administered by GRID Alternatives Mid-Atlantic, this paid training program is open to District residents, age 18 and over. The fall cohort begins on September 11, and lasts 12 weeks. By the end of the program (December 7), trainees will:
- Install at least 24 single-family systems and possibly work on commercial projects
- Complete construction workshops on Tool Safety and Management, Racking, Ground Wiring, Roof Wiring, Site Visits and Assessments, Inspection, Interconnection, and Photovoltaics 101
- Participate in outreach workshops on canvassing, Photovoltaics Sales 101, Climate Change, and Energy Efficiency courses
- Complete professional development workshops including Resume Development and Interview Techniques
- Have the opportunity to receive OSHA 10, CPR/First Aid, and NABCEP Associate's Exam preparation
