SafeHouse Center

Community Awareness volunteers will attend community events as SafeHouse Center representatives. Volunteers will be asked to help operate information tables and/or help support staff in set-up, operations, and clean-up at events and fundraisers in our community.

Volunteer Time Requirements: There is no set hour commitment for this volunteer opportunity. Volunteers will be contacted when events are available. The average time commitment for an assignment will be between 2 and 4 hours. We ask volunteers to sign up for two-three shifts a month.

We do provide crisis intervention training and it's mandatory to attend before volunteering with survivors can begin. In addition, we require on-the-job training and a six-month commitment.

Our CORE Volunteer Training will take virtually on the following dates:

  • Thursday, February 17 from 6pm to 9pm
  • Friday, February 18 from 6pm to 9pm
  • Saturday, February 19 from 9am to 2 pm
  • Sunday, February 20 from 9am to 2 pmProgram Training dates will be announced at a later time

To provide safety, support, advocacy and resources for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence and their children, and To work relentlessly to change the systems and attitudes that allow this abuse to continue.


SafeHouse Center provides support for those impacted by domestic violence or sexual assault. SafeHouse provides free and confidential services for any person victimized that lives or works in Washtenaw County. Our services include emergency shelter for those in danger of being hurt or killed, counseling, legal advocacy, support groups, and especially, hope .
