Habitat Metro Denver participates in a variety of outreach events each year and needs volunteers to represent us and share our mission. If you are passionate about Habitat, enjoy meeting new people and want to spend time out in the community, tabling events is the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!
Events include community, school and church volunteer fairs, corporate giving fairs, and Habitat fundraisers.
Responsibilities:
- Set up materials and run an outreach table
- Keep table and surrounding area neat and welcoming
- Pick up and return materials to and from the Habitat office
- Inform people about Habitat’s mission, programs, and volunteer opportunities
- Represent Habitat in a positive and professional manner
- Handle money and take donations through a tablet
- Be sensitive in social situations when talking with potential volunteers, applicants, and donors
Qualifications and Skills:
- Passion for Habitat’s mission
- Energetic and gregarious demeanor with the ability to engage a wide variety of people
- Willingness to learn about Habitat and stay current on program updates and volunteer needs
- Able to work well independently and use good judgment
Requirements:
- Volunteer application and interview
- Tour of construction site and ReStore
- Background check required for volunteers 18 and older
- Teens 15-17 years old can volunteer with a parent or guardian (excluding events with alcohol)
- Reliable transportation with ability to arrive on time for events
- Access to a computer and email
Time Commitment:
Volunteers are asked to commit to at least 3 events per year. Tabling events are held on weekdays, weekends and some evenings, and typically last 3-4 hours.
Training:
Volunteers must attend a 2-hour training offered on weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
Volunteer Impact:
Outreach Volunteers engage positively with the community of applicants, volunteers, and donors to encourage greater participation in our programs and a better understanding of Habitat. Your service will enhance Habitat’s capacity to create a more informed public, multiply our volunteer base, and increase awareness of our mission.
