...We will ensure every patient is treated with the care, compassion, dignity and respect they deserve and come to expect.

Description

Intrepid Hospice recognizes dying as a normal life process. We focus our attention on enhancing the quality of our patients' lives while also providing support to their loved ones.

Caring for someone with an end-of-life illness can be challenging. There is often many changing of care needs and loved ones can experience feelings of exhaustion and stress. It is during this time that Intrepid Hospice provides care that ranges from aggressive treatment of symptoms to the provision of assistance care and support for both the patient and their family.

Hospice services are provided through a team approach that consists of nurses, physicians, social workers, hospice aides, spiritual counselors, bereavement counselors, and trained volunteers.

While each hospice team member provides an essential component in the overall care of the patient, it is the volunteer that really helps to transcend palliative care to the next level. Hospice volunteers serve for no other reason than to bring love and kindness to another in pain.

As a Hospice Volunteer, you will likely find your own life enriched as you build individual relationships with patients and their families. You will likely gain a better understanding of death, and have the opportunity to deepen your own beliefs and understanding, as it relates to your own mortality.

Hospice is not about dying but about living until you die.
