Volunteer firefighter.
Responds to the fire station to staff fire rescue apparatus when the fire company is dispatched to emergency calls. Response directly to emergency scene is not permitted.
Participates in weekly training drills (approximately 3 hours per week) on Thursday nights.
Attends outside training academies as required to attain Firefighter I accreditation as a minimum. Additional certification levels are encouraged.
Members are strongly encouraged to have COVID-19 vaccination.

To provide first class emergency fire suppression and technical rescue services to the greater West Chester community.
Description
Fame Fire Company of West Chester is a 100 percent volunteer fire company that has continuously served the West Chester area since 1838.
Fame is recognized by the Commonwealth of PA Office of State Fire Commissioner as a participating fire department in the Fire Service Certification Program.
Serving six municipalities as part of the West Chester Fire Department, the fire company relies on the help of volunteers from all walks of life to get the job done. No experience is required. Training opportunities to national certification levels are available, with tuition paid for by the fire company. All personal protective equipment is provided by WCFD at no expense to the volunteers.
Fame Fire Company of West Chester operates six pieces of fire and rescue apparatus including:
> Ladder 53 - 110 foot heavy duty aerial (A 137' replacement on order for 2012 delivery)
> Rescue 53 - Heavy/technical rescue unit
> Engine 53 - Class A 2000 GPM pumper
> Boats 53-1 and 53-2 - Marine rescue
> Squad 53 - Light rescue unit
> Utility 53
> Collapse Trailer 53
> Trench Rescue Trailer 53
