Mission Statement
Mission
Young Audiences transforms the lives and education of our youth through the arts by connecting educators, professional artists, and communities. We provide artistically-excellent programs, expertise, and resources to ensure opportunities for all students across the state of Maryland.
We strive to:
- Bring more arts into Maryland schools by tapping into the talent of the artists living in our communities.
- Train teachers of all subject areas to use the arts to engage students in the learning process through arts integration.
- Ensure disadvantaged schools have more access to the arts by covering the financial gap between what schools can afford and what artists need to earn.
Description
Young Audiences, the nation’s largest arts education network, began in Baltimore in 1950. During our 63-year history, the Maryland affiliate of Young Audiences has expanded its services to Maryland students, teachers, and artists to give more students the opportunity to imagine, create, and realize their full potential through the arts.
Last year, Young Audiences’ roster of nearly 50 professional teaching artists provided more than 9,000 live performance, workshop, artist-in-residence, and professional development programs to 374 schools and organizations across Maryland, reaching nearly 200,000 students. Our partners share a commitment to creating moments for students to learn while gaining personal insight, strength, and imagination.
