Being part of the AseraCare Hospice Volunteer team opens a door for many opportunities including those for direct patient care and indirect support. Direct patient care looks like visiting a patient and playing their favorite music, reading a book or newspaper article, providing companionship, quiet presence, or bringing a therapy pet to provide comfort. As a direct patient care volunteer, you will be able to spend time with specific patients or simply be called upon during those final moments of life.
Indirect support volunteers assist with office work such as scanning documents, writing birthday and thank you cards, filing paperwork, or other miscellaneous work. Other opportunities as an indirect support volunteer include helping with our sewing days in which we make neck pillows and tie blankets, volunteer recruitment and educating about AseraCare by sharing the rewarding experiences of having hospice and being a volunteer, or you could even make cookies for patients. The need for veteran volunteers are especially important to help provide the one on one care with our veteran patients. No matter what your gift is, there is a place on our team for you.
