SFPL’s Veterans Resource Center (VRC) is a "clean, well-lighted space" reserved 12-5 pm Monday-Friday for the exclusive use of the veteran community. The VRC features access to four Internet-connected computers and a printer, up-to-date information from service providers, and a circulating book collection. It is staffed by dedicated SFPL volunteers and staff who provide information about veteran benefits, resources, local services, computer use, and other support.
We are looking for volunteers to take a weekly shift of 2-3 hours, mostly to maintain a warm, welcoming, and calm space, and also to answer questions as they come up. An orientation and training is provided, and staff are always nearby to support you. Volunteers with a military background are especially welcome.
If you're interested in applying, or just have question, please contact us at volunteer@sfpl.org.
