Come join us at Fistula Foundation as we prepare our annual report mailing. This is an ongoing project that involves stuffing and stamping over 3,000 pieces of mail. We will provide snacks, beverages etc. I recommend that you come for a "shift" of just two hours, but you may stay longer if you like. Keep reading for more details...

What: our annual report mailing is very important to Fistula Foundation's mission. It's a document that shares information with our donor pool about the progress Fistula Foundation has made throughout the past year. Without our generous donors, we would not be able to provide so many suffering women with the surgery they need. This mailing is an essential part of communicating with the donors.
When: Weekdays between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM. Let me know what period of time works for you. Stay as long as you like, or just pick an hour or two that works for you.
Why: obstetric fistula is a childbirth injury that occurs primarily in the developing world. When a woman has a long, difficult labor, she may develop a fistula -- a small tear that leaves her incontinent, leaking feces and/or urine. In many cases, this mother is abandoned by her husband and community because of her incontinence. Her foul smell makes her an outcast and she lives an isolated life. Fistula Foundation's mission is to ensure that women who suffer from fistula receive the surgery they need. This surgery repairs the tear and subsequently stops the leaking. Fistula Foundation funds hospitals and clinics throughout Africa and in parts of Asia so that surgeons can provide these women with the surgery they so desperately need.

Fistula Foundation does one thing and we do it well: treat obstetric fistula. Funding from our generous donors allows us to provide our partners in the field with human and financial resources that enable as many women as possible to receive the treatment they need. Our partners are carefully vetted and every site we fund is coordinated and staffed by local nurses, heroic doctors and care workers who understand the community and understand how to provide the best care possible to the women they treat.

Fistula Foundation believes no woman should endure a life of misery and isolation simply for trying to bring a child into this world. That’s why we’re dedicated to ending the suffering caused by obstetric fistula, a childbirth injury caused by prolonged, unrelieved obstructed labor that renders a woman incontinent - an injury that can only be treated through surgery.
Since adopting a global mission in 2009, we have supported treatment in 29 countries throughout Africa and Asia.
We are the largest private charitable foundation supporting fistula treatment globally.
Support from our generous donors allows women living in places like Ethiopia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh to receive free, high quality fistula repair surgeries that can change their lives forever.
