ORGANIZATION: APPALACHIAN TRAIL CONSERVANCY

Join the Mount Rogers A.T. Club on Wednesday September 26 for one of their trail maintenance work trips. Help the club with Appalachian Trail maintenance and spend a rewarding day alongside devoted A.T. volunteers to make a difference.

The work on the A.T. includes cleaning out waterbars, clearing fallen trees, and cutting back brush encroaching on the footpath. Tools, supplies, and training will be provided. The work-trip starts at 8:30 a.m and will conclude around 2 pm .

Participants should wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and work gloves. Participants should bring lunch, water, a rain jacket, and sun protection. The specific meeting location will be announced closer to the work day.

Description

Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is a project built on civic engagement. It exists because people like you step up and help out in a variety of ways, outdoors or inside. Activities can be physical (such as Trail work or boundary maintenance), creative (like contributing photography or writing), or organizational (like planning or leading activities).

Volunteers gain new skills through their work. Whether you volunteer because you enjoy time in nature, want to forge new friendships, or appreciate having a deeper connection to a place you hold in high regard, we are glad you are here.
