Here is an opportunity where you can make a huge difference in the life of children. In my classroom I need:
Every morning from 7:30-8a students read or play games. We need new or gently used educational & fun games for ages 3-8 (ex: puzzles, legos, connect four, etc.)
In addition I need volunteers or local business employees that could come in read to the students, listen to the students read, play sight word games, & mentor the students. You can commit to once a month or weekly.
These are the times I will need volunteers 8a-9a or 11a-12p. If these times fit your schedule I would greatly appreciate it.
Those who want to be teachers, retired teachers, student teachers, or if you just love kids I would love to have your help in my classroom.
*You most likely will have to go through a background check with Houston ISD.

Description
I am a 3rd teacher. This year I will be teaching 1st grade at Kashmere Gardens. My main goal is to help students not just read but develop a love for reading. Each year I work towards increasing students reading levels and I really enjoy what I do. One thing I have learned is most of my students do not have any access or little access to books at home. Also, many of them do not have the help & support they need to be fluent in reading at home.
