The Baltimore Job Hunters Support Group is looking to add a Career Book Club to its menu of offerings. We seek several Book Club Moderators to lead the group in discussions of work and career related books. The Club may be in-person at the Corner Community Center in Roland Park or online via Zoom.
The moderator's role is to:
- keep the meeting on track - digressions are fine but if the conversation strays too far off topic it's your job to bring it back.
- introduce a new topic of discussion if the conversation seems to be flagging.
- make sure that everyone feels that their voice has been heard and that no one person's voice is heard too much (and that includes your own!).
- keep thinks civil--after all, it wouldn't be much of a discussion of everyone agreed, but it is important that people express their alternate opinions in constructive and respectful ways that open up points for discussion rather than disrespectfully squashing the opposition.

Mission Statement
To enrich our community by providing a facility for worship, arts, education, recreation, and celebration for personal and collective growth.
Description
You might know the building as your polling place or as your Girl Scout cookie- sorting place. Perhaps you are already a participant in one of the many organizations that use the space, such as the Baltimore Musicales or Children’s Village.
The Corner Community Center (CCC) wants to enhance and expand the use of this building and grounds at 5802 Roland Avenue. in order to enrich your opportunities to network with your neighbors, to learn about environmental changes you can make to your homes and yards to lessen run-off to the Chesapeake Bay, to offer speakers and programs that deal with concerns you have about our city, and to offer spaces for meetings or programs that you want to offer to the neighborhood - just to get started with the possibilities!
The Baltimore Job Hunters Support Group (BJHSG) is one of the 24 groups that meets at CCC. BJHSG, a volunteer-led group that provides emotional and spiritual support to the unemployed, is expanding to include a formal program of coaching, advocacy, counseling, mutual mentoring, volunteering, and connection to resources, for all persons seeking employment search assistance, with emphasis on long-term unemployed workers (defined as those who have been seeking employment for 6 months or more without success) affected by the Great Recession and those who are age 45-50+ workers. We have a variety of dynamic volunteer positions that will support our program expansion efforts.
