Senior Resources of Guilford needs tax preparers and greeters for the Greensboro VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Free Fax Preparation Program for the upcoming 2018 tax season. Both volunteer roles are fun and fulfilling opportunities. You will make a huge difference in the lives of many people - low to moderate income families (making less than $54,000 a year), the elderly, people with disabilities, and limited English speaking tax payers.

As a tax preparer, you will receive free online and in-house training, have access to a practice lab, and take an open-book test to increase your knowledge and skills in tax preparation. During tax season we’d like you to commit to 12-30 flexible hours.

Your service to the many people needing help with their tax returns will be immeasurable. You will benefit immensely by challenging your mind and experiencing the joys of helping others.

As a greeter, you will greet people when they come to the tax preparation sites, hand out preliminary paperwork, sign them in, and call their names when the tax preparers are ready to prepare their taxes. Though not as challenging as tax preparing, this role is important in the smooth operation of the tax sites.

Plus, you save the tax preparers a lot of time by processing the walk ins and appointments, which the tax preparers really appreciate. The people waiting to get their taxes done will appreciate your help as well.

Most of all being a greeter is fun.
