Do you love crafts? Is Pinterest your best friend? Well, this is the volunteer opportunity for you!

As a craft volunteer at Alpha Grand Rapids (AGR), you would use your creativity to plan a simple craft each week for the Single Moms Support Group. This group meets on Tuesday and Friday mornings during the school year (with breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break). Craft time is typically from about 10:30-11:30 AM and gives the women who attend a chance to talk and have fun creating something while their children are taken care of in childcare. Many moms say this is their favorite part of the group!

This position has typically been done by one person, but a team of two people could work together as long as you have strong communication skills and can co-lead well.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan the weekly craft
  • Purchase supplies (you will be reimbursed by AGR)
  • Arrive 15-30 minutes prior to the craft time to set up
  • Teach the craft to the group (there are typically around 10 women)
  • Clean up afterwards
