Volunteers will help us the day on of the event, Saturday September 8th, with the following activities: Register participants, distribute water, set up breakdown at the end of the event.Volunteers can register their team and create their Team's Page by clicking in the link: https://qscanwalkathon2018.myevent.com/page.php?groupingID=fundraiser and follow the instructions provided. When: Saturday, September 8th, 2018 @ 8 A.M. - REGISTRATION

@ 10 A.M. - WALK BEGINS

Where: Starting at 160th St, between Liberty Avenue and Archer Avenue

(York College) near the last stop on the 'E’ Train, Jamaica Center,

And will be ending at Roy Wilkins Park and Merrick Blvd Queens NY.

PRE-REGISTRATION $25.00 AND AT DAY OF THE WALK $30.00

Our Mission and Vision are a deep sense of commitment; it focuses on those with Sickle Cell conditions. We provide a clear sense of direction for families and individuals, enabling them to participate actively in their surrounding communities and health care needs. All of our information and services are provided FREE of charge. We rely on private donations and support that allows QSCAN to provide the needed services to those families and individuals we serve.

Description

We depend on volunteers like you to help us recruit sponsors, teams, and other volunteers that will help increase fundraising dollars for sickle cell awareness, education, research, and support services that will beneifit families and individuals with sickle cell disease, thalasemia and the trait.


There are various volunteer opportunities that are needed:

  • Office help
  • Marketing/Advertising
  • Help recruiting volunteers and team leaders
  • Set-up & break down
  • Day of event registration help
  • Help with the Children's Pavilion
  • Distribute water to walkers at 3 intervals along the walk-a-thon route
  • Help to coordinate the Walk-A-Thon
