The next Homeless Unsheltered Count coming up on July 26, 2018, and we’re searching for volunteer support. For this event, volunteers go to various shelters, drop-in centers, free-meal sites, and service centers across Hennepin County to complete surveys with individuals who have been sleeping outside or unsheltered (in a car, train, parking garage, outside, or other places not meant for human habitation). The results from the surveys guide our Street Outreach work as well as help us advocate for necessary support and services for individuals sleeping unsheltered in our community. Volunteers will be partnered with a staff member from St. Stephen's at each site.

Training will be provided on Monday, July 23 rd from 5-6pm, and on Tuesday, July 24 th from 12-1pm. Both trainings will take place at the main St. Stephen’s Office, located at 2309 Nicollet Ave. During training we’ll discuss what to expect at your site, review survey questions, outline common challenges (and how to overcome them), and answer questions you may have about being an Unsheltered Count Volunteer Surveyor. Volunteers are required to attend one of the two trainings offered.

Shifts last 2-4 hours and are available between the hours of 7am-5pm. Once you express interest in volunteering, you will receive a follow up e-mail with specific times and locations that are available.
