General Description
Join the search for one of Minnesota's newest aquatic invasive species, Starry Stonewort (and other aquatic invasive species). Starry stonewort is an invasive algae that was first found in Lake Koronis (Stearns County) in 2015 and has spread to 9 Minnesota lakes. We are asking for your help in searching lakes in Dakota County to better understand starry stonewort distribution.
Register to search for Starry Stonewort by August 6. You will receive an e-mail with additional details about your location, including your local host's contact information. Volunteers will receive a complimentary gift for participating.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Training about the program
- Individuals will be assigned monitoring locations to search.
- All participants will return to Camp Sacajawea to report findings and turn in any specimens and datasheets at 1 p.m.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 16 years old or older to volunteer without an adult
- No experience necessary.
Minimum Time Commitment
4.5 hours
Activity Level
Medium - May involve varying amounts of activity (long walks, rough terrain, and moderate physical exertion. May not be recommended for volunteers with physical limitations. Comfortable, sturdy shoes recommended.

- No experience necessary. Training will be provided
