Cut it Out! Essential Trail Maintenance
ORGANIZATION: APPALACHIAN TRAIL CONSERVANCY
Please visit the new page to apply.
Tall grasses and overgrown bushes along the Trail pose challenges. They make hiking harder and increase exposure to ticks carrying illness, and if gone unchecked for too long it can make the Trail hard to follow.
Join the Connecticut Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club as they perform the essential trail maintenance practice of brushing annual growth and mowing near Ten Mile River camp.
The group will be meeting at the hiker parking lot on Route 55 in Sherman, Connecticut - fifty yards east of the New York State line- at 9 a.m on Saturday, July 21st. Be sure to wear sturdy boots, long pants, and work gloves. Also, bring your own lunch, personal snacks, a rain jacket, insect repellent, and plenty of water.Advanced registration necessary, please use this link to register for this work-trip.

Description
Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is a project built on civic engagement. It exists because people like you step up and help out in a variety of ways, outdoors or inside. Activities can be physical (such as Trail work or boundary maintenance), creative (like contributing photography or writing), or organizational (like planning or leading activities).
Volunteers gain new skills through their work. Whether you volunteer because you enjoy time in nature, want to forge new friendships, or appreciate having a deeper connection to a place you hold in high regard, we are glad you are here.
There are a variety of ways to contribute your talents and your time.
