The Victory Garden is a community garden hosted by Brighton NC Machine and coordinated by Gleaners Community Food Bank. Volunteer tasks vary throughout the growing season and include forming beds, composting, seeding, mulching, transplanting, weeding, and harvesting.
This position requires rigorous outdoor activities for the bulk of the shift, including bending, digging, and lifting, although accommodations may be made with advance notice. Volunteers must be at least five years old.

Description
For more than 40 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been "feeding hungry people and nourishing our communities." Last year, Gleaners distributed 42 million pounds of emergency food to 499 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe counties.
Of every dollar donated, Gleaners uses 97 cents for food and food programs. One dollar provides three meals for a hungry neighbor.
