Communications or Marketing Professional Needed for Climate Resilience Initiative

Global Green is seeking help from a communications or marketing professional to support communications regarding our work with increasing resilience in communities and responding to climate change.

The work will consist of:

1) Meeting with the volunteer by phone or in person (if in NYC) and describing the projects in further detail (an initial description is below).

2) Discussing how communcations can be used to describe the process and/or the impacts of these projects in a clearer or more exciting manner.

3) The volunteer will then prepare communications and then incorporate one round of revisions. The final product can either be in "article" or slide presentation deck format.

A few examples of our work are below:

- Green Urbanism & Sustainable Neighborhood Assessment (SNA). A focus will remain within underserved communities, as well as area exposed to future environmental threats (coastal, drought-conditions, etc.)

- Responsible Materials Management and Resilience. Global Green is currently working on projects in resilient & responsible waste management-managing, directing, and implementing projects in soil, food, and compost within cities After successful work in New York and California, the team is currently adapting the program for resilience to serve Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Harvey impacted areas

- Resilience and Community Building for Water Management in the Gulf Coast. Global Green currently engages city residents in a variety of water management workshops though our water resilience program. Global Green is seeking to work with its partners to expand into communities across the southern Gulf Coast. Evaluate the potential to adapt and refine Global Green’s community resilience education model in New Orleans for coastal communities within Texas; for example, Houston or Port Arthur, both recently devastated by Hurricane Harvey

Expanding Resilience Education and Demonstration Projects

Solar and Community Resilience
  • The Solar for Sandy initiative will equip five or more community facilities serving low income residents in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy with grid-tied, back-up solar energy systems The first three project have been completed.
  • Climate Action Center and Resilience Hub. The Climate Action Center (CAC) is pending completion in late Fall-winter of 2018. The LEED-certified community center located in the 9 th ward of New Orleans, will serve as a resilient, education and community space that also serve as a resilience hub in the case of an electric grid outage.
  • CAC programing includes workshops in environmental education & literacy, opportunities for media and film presentations; as well as an interactive green-building resource center

In all of these activities, Global Green will work to advance policy where possible, particularly in DC, and also collaborate with Green Cross International to build international project opportunities.

Our impact has been felt across the country, particularly in areas affected by disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans where we led green rebuilding efforts and continue to provide assistance and resources to local residents.
