City Tutors is looking for a professional(s) to serve as a mentor for a City College of New York (CUNY) course called Vocation, Career and Self-Development which runs from 5-7PM on Thursdays in the Fall semeter. The mentor would help students in the class with revising their resumes, and would conduct mock interviews. Ideally the mentor would be available to come in the class from 6-7pm at least during the first few sessions so that a relationship with the students can quickly be established. Most of the work can be done over virtual platform. The mentor would work closely in coordination with the instructor of the course. Here is a description of the course: This course aims to provide students with practical tools and applied knowledge on how best to find a fulfilling job in today’s, increasingly competitive, job market. It is divided in four parts, or modules. The first deals with vocation; that is, establishing what career path(s) best fit your talents, values and aspirations. The second aims at establishing what kind of experience you need to best achieve your career goals, both in terms of academic study and extra-curricular activities. The third concerns the networking and information-gathering skills you will need, both online and in person, to find the right job opportunities for you. Finally, the last and largest module deals with self-presentation and interviewing techniques, with specific training and evaluation sessions on résumé and cover-letter writing as well as job interview strategy and performance. As an applied and participatory course, classes will involve a variety of pedagogical exercises in addition to lectures by the instructor and a number of invited guests from the business world. Students will be required to participate in mock interviews, acting both as 'interviewers’ and 'interviewees’, but also to comment on and evaluate on each other’s résumés and cover letters, and participate in a number of other in-class exercises aimed at fostering self-awareness, networking skills and team-building ability.

Mission Statement
The City Tutors (CT) is a NYC wide volunteer tutoring and mentoring hub that ensures historically underserved communities have equitable access to resources that are fundamental to educational and professional success.
Description
Our vision is to create a hub where any New Yorker can leverage their academic and professional skills and content knowledge to uplift their community and where disadvantaged communities can access resources that they need.
We see tutoring as a way to empower individuals to work in the community. We provide flexible times, convenient locations, and meaningful experiences, allowing more community members to participate and to support community partners for longer.
We believe tutoring must be a reflective act that both helps strengthen individuals' support of others and helps individuals better understand themselves. We provide our tutors with access to industry mentors who help connect the work they are doing with us with what they've done in the past and what they want to do in the future.
We believe in leveraging the workforce skills of our community of volunteers by pairing those in need of professional support with industry experts who can provide insight into specific fields and feedback on professional documents.
We see the City Tutors as an opportunity to bring people together under a common purpose. We want like-minded individuals to feel they are part of a fellowship, to build their network with people within their discipline, and to expand the disciplines and industries they've been exposed to.
