The Herndon Home Museum

Come learn how to tell the story of Atlanta's First Black Millionaire!
Volunteer Docents for the Herndon Home Museum are tour guides who lead observation - and inquiry-based tours and are an active and valuable asset for the museum. Every summer the Herndon offers a free training seminar for community members committed to the Herndon Family Legacy.

What Will I learn:
Herndon Home Docents will receive the professional museum training so that they may offer all visitors an engaging experience that educates the public about the legacy of the Herndon Family and the African American experience from the pre-Civil War to the post-Civil Rights Movement years.

Over the Course of three Friday sessions with Herndon Scholar, Dr. Karcheik Sims-Alvarado, you will learn how to be a Herndon Home Docent.
