SAFG needs volunteers who are passionate about STEM and working with children to assist in out-of-school time STEM classes for girls in K-5 th grades. You can come once a week for 8-10 weeks for a 1.25-hour class. You would be engaging the girls with hands-on projects each week and helping build their confidence around STEM, teach collaboration, problem solving, perseverance and that it is ok to make a mistake.

Scientific Adventures for Girl's mission is to remove systemic barriers to all girls’ participation in STEM starting in transitional kindergarten, engage them through hands-on learning, increase their positive attitudes toward STEM, and equip them with 21st century skills.
Description
Scientific Adventures for Girls (SAFG), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, provides after school and summer STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs to young children with a special focus on girls and disadvantaged youth. SAFG's goals are to increase positive attitudes toward STEM in TK-6th grade female students and to increase hands-on learning opportunities for girls everywhere (including in economically marginalized areas) to explore STEM concepts and encourage lifelong learning of STEM subjects. If you are a female in a STEM field, you can meet with one of our classes, share your story about what you do and how you got interested in your field and do a fun project if you choose.
