The Alzheimer's Association, Central New York Chapter is seeking volunteers to facilitate a monthly support group in the Cortland County community. An Alzheimer's Association support group is an open gathering of people with common problems, needs and interests who come together to share their feelings, thought and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia in a safe environment. The support group facilitator allows the group process to take its course, allowing the group members to benefit from each other's wisdom. Volunteers are provided initial and ongoing training by Alzheimer's Association, as well as materials and reference information on the disease and chapter resources.
