ORGANIZATION: Covenant House Alaska

Have you ever been a part of Toastmasters International? Maybe took a public speaking class you really liked? Or simply enjoy storytelling? This may be the volunteer job for you!

Covenant House Alaska serves youth 13-24 currently experiencing or at-risk of experiencing homelessness. Gavel Club is a group that focuses on building communication and leadership skills in a fun way. It is a division of Toastmasters International meant for people who have not yet embarked on a career.

You would co-facilitate with a current volunteer. Wednesdays 6-7pm.

Description

Covenant House Alaska is to be the leader, through collaboration with the community, to provide compassionate, sustainable services and shelter to homeless or at-risk youth in Alaska.

Youth experiencing homelessness have rights.

The right to a home.

The right to food.

The right to guidance.

The right to an education.

The right to be free from sexual, emotional, or physical abuse.

The right to be free from exploitation.

Youth experiencing homelessness have the right to be safe, and most importantly, to be loved.
