This event gives visitors a first-hand look at waterfowl decoy carving, an art form firmly rooted in Louisiana's rich cultural heritage, by featuring some of the region's oldest and most rare decoys displayed by carvers and collectors from all over the Deep South and beyond. This year’s event honors decoy carvers from "Downriver" and south of New Orleans, as well as those from Shell Beach. This event has grown to be fun for the whole family with hands-on activities like the Waterfowl Identification Hike along our trails, the Carving Corner where visitors use soap to carve their own mini duck decoys, the Duck Box inflatable jump house, live baby ducklings in the Duck Pen, waterfowl-themed carnival prize booths, face-painting and more.
Volunteers will be assisting at this event at different stations, set up, talking with guests, and more around BREC's Bluebonnet Swamp. Volunteers working both shifts will be provided food vouchers for our onsite vendors.
Interested volunteers can sign up for the first shift (8:30a.m. - 12:30 p.m.) or the second shift (12:30p.m. - 4:30p.m.) or both here www.SignUpGenius.com/go/20F044FAAAF22A0FF2-duck2
