We are looking for a social worker, therapist, musician, actor, dancer, or artist to facilitate a form of art therapy with homeless individuals who are recovering at our recuperative care facilities. We welcome a wide variety of arts! This can be an individual or group volunteering opportunity.
All of the clients who reside in the recuperative care facilities have recently been discharged from a hospital and instead of being sent back to the streets, they are given shelter, food, nursing & behavioral health oversight and assistance to find stable housing. They have a wide range of mental health conditions, many have battled addictions and substance use, but all are on the road to recovery. We find that our clients are bored throughout the day and unmotivated to improve their well being on their own.
It would be an amazing service to offer them the opportunity to go through the healing process with the aid of the arts!
We have multiple locations throughout Orange and LA county that could use your skills! We have a lot of flexibility at our sites in terms of hours and days of the week as we are a 24/7 shelter. We just ask that you can commit to coming regularly once a week to establish a routine with the patients in our program.

Mission Statement
The Illumination Foundation (IF) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3), non-denominational, grassroots organization that addresses the crisis of homelessness in Southern California through integrated services that provide appropriate solutions.
Description
Experts on homelessness within Southern California agree that it has reached crisis proportions, and there are not enough resources designated for chronic and emergency programs. With that understanding, IF was founded in late 2007 to effectively lower the barriers for Orange County's homeless population to access existing resources and services. In July 2008 IF launched the "Pre-Transitional Housing and Wrap-Around Program", a comprehensive program that houses and supports homeless families with children in motels in Orange County. IF was established within the UC Irvine Health Care Executive MBA Program as a non-profit public charity organization. Today, IF's governing board consists of community leaders in medicine, nursing, social work, information technology, and education. Illuminate lives by bridging the gaps in existing services for the most underserved to disrupt or prevent the cycle of homelessness in Southern California.
We offer a low-entry threshold to provide a safety net for all homeless families with children.
We connect homeless or at-risk families and individuals with services they are eligible to receive.
We foster rehabilitation by empowering adults to become self-sufficient; and inspiring children to grow into independent, productive adults.
