About B-STEM Project:

B-STEM Project is a startup non-profit organization providing free programs and workshops to underserved young girls and boys, allowing them to (1) learn about STEM fields in a fun, introductory environment and (2) apply their learnings through custom projects across a variety of business industries including Entertainment, Advertising, Fashion, Information Technology, Agriculture, and Life Sciences.

At B~STEM(tm), knowledge and skills are reinforced through practice, coaching, and mentoring by industry experts. Utilizing real-life scenarios, collaboration and project based learning, we foster diverse transferable skills in emerging talent across the nation.

The Position:

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Present the benefits of supporting varying projects
  • Create and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the next 3 years that will:
    • Identify and prioritize all viable sources of revenue with associated revenue goals
    • Include an expense budget for establishing and growing those sources
    • Planning cultivation events
    • Establish metrics for evaluating success that are based on widely accepted fundraising principles and standards and that are in line with other organizations with similar size and scope
  • Pitch the charity in line with overall campaign messaging
  • Collaborate directly with Board Members to conduct major gift asks, with prospect research support
  • Passion for educating underserved youth and empowering their success
  • 4-6 hours / week (majority being remote)

Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelors degree
  • A proven track record of identifying new donor prospects and achieving annual and long-term fundraising goals.
  • Providing professional leadership and management for Boards and/or Committees
  • Self starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication and presentation skills; ability to represent BSTEM Project’s mission and interests to a diverse group of people
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills; capable of working effectively with board members, donors, donor prospects, staff members, volunteers and consultants

Extra Points Skills:

  • Preferably with some experience with Salesforce, DonorPerfect, The Raiser’s Edge, or other fundraising database software
  • Certification in fundraising, such as the CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Professional) or CSPG (Certified Specialist in Planned Giving) is a plus.

Description

B~STEM Project’s primary focus is to provide young girls and women opportunities to gain in depth insight and understanding into the business of STEM disciplines across industries. We also offer an extension of holistic programming for both boys and girls that takes a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to STEM instruction.

BSTEM allows students to engage, learn and grow on both an academic and personal level. Our programs offer exposure into a variety of industries from entertainment, advertising and fashion to robotics, agriculture and life sciences. We simulate real life scenarios with a curriculum that’s project driven. The knowledge and skills acquired are reinforced through practice, coaching and mentoring by industry specific professionals.
