This is a new program for the Nanny/Manny Brigade. As a Foster Nanny, you would need to pass a background check and attend training/orientation. After your approval, you would be matched with a foster family who lives near you.

The idea would be that you would help them as if you were a trusted friend or family member. They could call you so you could help them care for the children either at their house or your house, you could take the children out for the afternoon. You would interview with the foster family and we will set up guidelines such as "can babysit once a month, take the kids out for an outing once a quarter, etc." You would also be a key player in the event that the foster family has a crisis such as a serious injury or illness. Our volunteers would be able to help with that family's need in the crisis and ask for any other additional help that family may need.

Location:

Mission Statement

To provide assistance with foster children by providing a positive, caring environment for children that have just been brought into State Custody. To support the Cobb County DFCS Staff and the Cobb County Foster Parents during intake, court proceedings and training activities of Foster Parents.

Description

The Nanny/Manny Brigade is a group of volunteers who are willing to be a positive influence on children that are coming into Cobb County Dept of Family and Children Sersvices custody. When a child is taken into State Custody, it can be terrifying. Most of the time, they must wait at the DFCS office until they are placed with a foster home. Our volunteers supervise and befriend children for a morning or afternoon on that critical day. Our volunteers support the DFCS staff by caring for children that are waiting in the office for a foster home placement, visitation with their parents and during family meetings conducted at the DFCS office.
