During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of both COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
The South Metro Medical Equipment Loan Closet (SMMELC) is a non-profit organization which collects and loans out durable medical equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs, scooters, etc., to any person age 18 and over who needs to borrow this type of equipment. We loan on a short-term basis (up to 3 months) with no questions asked and request only a donation. There are no paid positions. We serve a wide community of those with different needs and we prevent durable medical equipment from ending up in landfills.
Volunteers answer calls on their cell phones, schedule appointments for pick-ups, returns and donations using the Google Calendar app on their cell phones, and meet clients and donors at our storage location in Greenwood Village to loan out/accept the equipment.
We expect each volunteer to work 3-4 times a month and attend a quarterly Board meeting where volunteers get to pick the days they can work. We hope that each volunteer will embrace our mission and also help us with any long-term goals.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
