The Ready Reader program supports early literacy and cognitive development to promote kindergarten readiness and future academic success. Ready Readers have the opportunity provide children with a greater exposure to books, instill a love of reading, and build relationships in the classroom.

Ready Readers visit an Orange County child care center to read to preschoolers in a Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) classroom for 30-45 minutes on a weekday morning. This program includes opportunities for individuals on a weekly or one-time basis, or custom corporate programs.

Steps to become a Ready Reader:
1. Fill out all required paperwork and pass a background check.
2. Attend your choice of an online or in person 30-minute orientation.
3. Get placed at a child care center that can benefit most from your time and begin your Ready Reader journey.
