ROV pancake breakfast

We are looking for a Lead for our world famous Pancake Breakfasts! Our pancake breakfast is very important to the visibility of the ship and is a very important fundraiser! These monthly breakfasts are usually on the second Sunday of the month from May to October and can serve up to 300 visitors on the deck with a gorgeous view of the San Francisco Bay. Pancakes are cooked on our historic diesel grill - the only one still in use! The number of crew in the galley cooking and serving for the event can be up to 8 - 10. The experience and satisfaction of the visitors is of the highest importance during this event! Also important to note is that the crew in the galley are volunteers and are there on their own time, and the Lead must set an example for the crew to follow.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work with and communicate positively and effectively with a diverse crew of volunteers
  • Communicate with and schedule event staff, set up expectations, train new staff, delegate responsibilities in the galley
  • Purchase supplies such as pancake batter, sausages, bacon, apples, coffee, juice, plates, plasticware, cups, etc and ensure that enough food is purchased for the day of the event
  • Communicate with the Steward and the Events Coordinator about number of visitors expected/ tickets sold, what is needed with the facility, and other logistics
  • Manage the flow of the food prep, plating and interaction with the visitors
  • Ensure that during the event safety best practices are used and that galley crew get breaks
