ORGANIZATION: FEEDING 5000 INC

FEEDING 5000 INC is looking for individuals who have or are willing to learn, social media experience. Many components must be implemented to successfully run the FEEDING 5000 INC social media accounts. Ultimately, we are looking for responsible, organized, and savvy individuals who can:

  • Create at least 3 posts per week for M-F (posts can be created in advance of oncoming week if that is your preference)
  • Coordinate posts related to topics such as; education, inspiration/motivation, quotes, womanhood, motherhood, etc.
  • Promote FEEDING 5000 INC programs, services, and partnerships that are on our website at feeding5000.org.
  • Measure the metrics of the posts
  • Curate content for FEEDING 5000 INC social media accounts
  • Attend all events, take current pictures, live stream and provide current hashtags to our guests.
  • Post live content regularly throughout the event.

Qualities of a social media assistant include but are not limited to:

  • Strong writing and grammar skills
  • Attention to detail and organized
  • Capable of writing inspirational and personable content in 140 characters or less
  • A well-rounded understanding of social media
  • Open to receive regular feedback in order to develop high-quality content
Interested parties may also assist in our PR and marketing efforts from time to time. You must be willing to commit at least 10-15 hours a week. This is not a temporary position and you must willing to work with our organization for more than six months.

Mission Statement

Feeding 5,000 Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization that seeks to provide 5,000 families residing in Capitol Heights and nearby communities in Prince George’s County with fresh, affordable, naturally grown food within the next five years. This urban farming initiative was created to play an active role in combating significant problems facing Prince George’s County through innovative, grassroots, and community-involved training efforts that address critical issues such as the growing food desert crisis in Capitol Heights and surrounding communities, poverty, limited job opportunities, urban blight, and crime.

Description

Feeding 5,000 Inc. implements innovative urban farming practices and includes beekeeping opportunities that can be brought to just about any unused or low-used space, transforming it into a beautiful and productive nexus of fresh food for residents. In the process of doing this, Feeding 5,000 is designing and creating a variety of ways for local citizens to be involved. Activities range from informational 1-hour classes to summer training sessions and paid internship opportunities that teach the basics of urban farming, beekeeping, food distribution and storage, entrepreneurial opportunities and much more that will focus on addressing and combating problems of poverty, limited job opportunities, urban blight, crime, and food safety/security.
