The Academy will be providing several opportunities for children and families at the Creative Castle during the ST Louis Art Fair September 8 (11AM-7PM) and September 9 (11AM-5PM). We will provide the drawing and painting opportunities for children exploring Missouri wildlife in the booth as well as providing assistance for drawing and photography for children at the station with the Clydesdale while providing information about Missouri's wild horses. We will be coordinating with several of the other organizations to create a flow connecting arts and nature. As an example, with the Clydesdale, we will provide assistance with drawing and photography while discussing their normal habitat and contrasting with the habitat of the Missouri wild horses. The Academy's booth will provided reference photos of the Missouri wild horses and their habitat for drawing and painting. Another booth, may provide an activity such as creating hats--of common insects of Missouri while a second booth may provide a movement activity exploring how bees communicate. The Academy needs 3 volunteers to assist children drawing and painting in the booth in each of eight 2 hour shifts. It is also looking for additional volunteers to help with drawing and cell phone photography of the Clydesdale. Comfort with the natual history of the area is nice but will be provided to volunteers. Training in the specific art and photography will be provided.
