We are the only organization that studies San Diego County to identify the gaps in breast cancer care and the barriers to breast health access. Komen San Diego’s work is about removing barriers, improving the law, changing systems, and most importantly, elevating the women and men directly impacted by breast cancer.
We need your help at our annual Race for the Cure on the morning of Sunday, November 4th. Volunteers are needed to help with various tasks including set-up, check-ins, packet distribution, working our public policy booth, water stations, refreshments, checking gear, medal distributions, etc. Find more volunteer tasks and sign up here: https://inmotion.rosterfy.co/event?e=8195

About Susan G. Komen San Diego
Location:

Mission Statement
There is power in pink. All pink ribbons are not created equal. As the global leader of the breast cancer movement, we’re dedicated to one thing only - breast cancer. Komen is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, and remains the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer across the globe. Susan G. Komen for the Cure operates on two levels: the national organization is solely responsible for granting and managing research grants. Next to the U.S. government, Komen is the largest funder of breast cancer research in the world; the 100 Affiliates of Susan G. Komen (such as here in San Diego) are responsible for studying the local community and disparities in accessing breast health services; raising money and granting it to local organizations to close the gaps to health care.
Description
Susan G. Komen San Diego is the only organization providing qualified uninsured or underinsured women the free services they need for every step of the breast cancer journey. These services include free diagnostic mammograms, life-saving screenings, surgeries, temporary financial aid for living expenses, meal deliveries, education, outreach and more.
Locally, Komen San Diego continues to be the County’s largest funder of free breast cancer treatments, services and support, with $1 million being granted this year. Nationally, next to the U.S. government, Komen is the largest funder of breast cancer research in the world.
