ORGANIZATION: The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter

The Richmond Walk to Defeat ALS is having its annual Richmond Kickoff. The Richmond Kickoff is a completely FREE event with food, drinks, and games. The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter hosts the Kickoff as way to say thank you to everyone who supports our Richmond Walk. Volunteers will help with distributing information about the chapter and set up and break down. All volunteers who attends will be given a free meal.

Leading the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support. The DC/MD/VA is based in Rockville, MD with an office in Richmond, VA.

Description

The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of people living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and their families in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The ALS Association National Office and the ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter operate under a shared mission: to support people living with ALS and to leave no stone unturned in the search for a cure. The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA is currently serving almost 700 people living with ALS and their families. These services include assistive technology devices, social worker visits, medical equipment loan closet, transportation grants, and many other services. All of the Chapter's services are provided free of charge to the families.
