ORGANIZATION: The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter

The Roanoke Walk to Defeat ALS is having it's annual Kickoff Event to celebrate the beginning of another walk season! Kickoff is a completely FREE event that The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter puts together every year to thank everyone who supports the Roanoke Walk. Volunteers will be asked to help with set up, managing information stations, and help with the Roanoke Kickoff presentation. Everyone who comes out to volunteer will be given a free meal!

Leading the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support. The DC/MD/VA is based in Rockville, MD with an office in Richmond, VA.

Description

The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of people living with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis a.k.a. Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and their families in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The ALS Association National Office and the ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter operate under a shared mission: to support people living with ALS and to leave no stone unturned in the search for a cure. The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA is currently serving almost 700 people living with ALS and their families. These services include assistive technology devices, social worker visits, medical equipment loan closet, transportation grants, and many other services. All of the Chapter's services are provided free of charge to the families.
