Boston Harbor Now seeks a few more enthusiastic volunteers to help lead Harbor Healthwalks on Sunday mornings on beautiful Spectacle Island! The Harbor Healthwalks program invites individuals of all ages and fitness abilities to get moving on the island's Healthy Heart perimeter trail. Volunteers lead participants on a brisk 5K walk (two times around the perimeter trail) while sharing their knowledge and encouragement on how to stay active and healthy in our parks.
Anyone with a background in health, fitness, or wellness with an interest in leading outdoor programs with the public can be a Harbor Healthwalks volunteer! Volunteers include but are not limited to:
- Doctors
- Physical Thrapists
- Nutritionists
- Nurses
- Fitness Instructors
- Gym Teachers and Athletic Coaches
- Health Educators
- Outdoors and Wilderness Leaders
- Students in any of these fields
Lead a walk on your own or lead as a group with peers from your department or workplace. Volunteers receive free tickets to Spectacle Island and lunch vouchers the day of their event. Boston Harbor Now is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and any volunteer hours can be used for school and community service credit.
Ferry for this program leaves at 9am on Sunday mornings from downtown Boston. Volunteers can leave on an 11:30am ferry after the program, or can choose to spend they day on the island.
