Hawaii Care Choices

Help hospice and palliative care patients at Hawaii Care Choices.
Volunteers can provide an array of support to our organization. There are opportunities to volunteer directly with patients or indirectly.

**During COVID-19 we are still looking for volunteers who are comfortable going into homes. Hawaii Care Choices is very cautious with safety protocols and procedures before and during a home visit. Screening questions, social distancing and PPE are all in place.**

- Companionship
- Give caregivers a break
- Transportation
- Errands
- Cooking
- Music
- Light household chores
- Specialty services (requires license) - Massage and hair dresser
- Administrative assistance - receptionist, data entry, scanning, etc.
- Landscaping
- Community events - volunteer on the day of special events, volunteer weeks and months prior leading up to the event

Volunteering can be in our In-patient Facility, at our office, at patient's homes or other facilities in East Hawaii. Our coverage area is from Laupahoehoe to South Point. You can let us know where you can be available.

Hours vary - typically 4 hours a week but there is flexibility with this. Days and times of the week also vary. Our in-patient until is open 24/7, night time and weekend help are always welcome.

Those who would like to volunteer directly with patients must attend 8 hours training class and complete 10 hours of online training. Next training class scheduled for December 14th and 15th, 2020 from 8:30a-12:30p (online training must be completed before attending class). Assistance with online training is available. Non-tech-savvy welcome!

Volunteers with no direct contact with patients and families will have a condensed version of this training.
