Do you like to sing lullabies, hymns or folk songs? Like to read poetry or scripture out loud? Enjoy meditation and prayer? These are all ideal ways of sitting with dying patients. We would love to have you help us set an environment of peace and calm for our patients in their final days of life using those gifts that you enjoy! You will find it a profound thing - to see your singing/reading/mindfulness provide relaxation and calm to a patient.

Volunteers are provided in-depth training on what to expect in the dying process. Volunteers in this capacity place their name on a list we contact when the need arises.

Volunteers must be able to pass a background check, drug screen and complete a tuberculosis screening. Online training at your convenience is provided, followed by a four-hour in person training with other volunteers which is scheduled with your input - generally Sunday afternoons work for most.

AseraCare Hospice is committed to Making.Moments.matter. and we find that those final moments are the most precious of all.

Please note - AseraCare respects the grieving process. We ask that anyone who has experienced the loss of an immediate family member wait one year before commencing volunteering.
