The Fanny Landwirth Clothes Closet, located at 6261 Dupont Station Court E., Jacksonville, FL 32217, is the a much-needed service provided by JFCS. Free to the entire community, we provide clothing (size newborn to 14 (teens) ) to those in need.

Much of the time, when clients come into our care, they are taken from their homes with just the clothes on their back. The Fanny Landwirth Clothes Closet allows case managers to bring them to the closet to pick out what they need until we can secure a foster home and provide additional supplies for them.

JFCS is dependent upon new and gently used donations from the community. Clothes Closet hour run parallel with the Max Block Food Pantry, open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to unpack bags of donated clothing/supplies, hang up, and replace clothing as needed. Additionally, they will have face-to-face contact with clients and the public. Volunteer time commitment varies with volunteer. We ask for at least three visits.

Full application process required. This is an ongoing opportunity. Training is provided. Contact Donna O’Steen at 904-394-5714/dosteen@jfcsjax.org.

**At this time, the only opportunity available for the Fanny Landwirth Clothes Closet is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00-3:00 p.m. so clients can shop if they need clothing.

Mission Statement

The mission of Jewish Family & Community Services is to strengthen the entire community by providing individual and family social services in the Jewish tradition of helping people help themselves.

Description

Jewish Family & Community Services, Inc. (JFCS) has been a vital part of the Jacksonville Community since 1917, lending a helping hand to people from all walks of life. JFCS has changed the lives of thousands on the First Coast, from the young to the aged, the hurting, the lonely and the lost. JFCS just celebrated 100 years of service to Northeast Florida, and we remain true to its mission to "strengthening the entire community by providing family and individual social services in the Jewish tradition of helping people help themselves."

JFCS provides the ENTIRE community with family-centered services designed to strengthen the skills necessary for self-sufficiency and well-being. The Agency's six core programs work together to protect at-risk children, keep families together, prevent homelessness, feed the hungry, help struggling students succeed and strengthen the coping skills of emotionally distressed individuals and families. JFCS is unique in that, from a single point of entry, clients have access to a number of wraparound services: case management, private adoption, outpatient mental health counseling and assessment, in-home dropout prevention services for middle-school students and their families, life skills education, emergency financial assistance, a food pantry and services designed specifically for the Jewish community - including Holocaust survivors programming.
