Assist Nature Center land management staff with natural areas projects during the summer!
Successful candidates are able to participate actively in land management activities including pulling invasive plants, trail maintenance, trash collection, and learning about plants and ecology. Training and guidance in native plants, management techniques and trail maintenance will be provided. The candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated and reliable. Candidates should expect to work in all weather conditions and lift 20 pounds. Interested candidates are asked to fill out our online application at https://shakerlakes.org/volunteer-application/ and attend a group interview on Friday, June 7, 1-2:30 pm at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes.
Minimum Age to Volunteer: Youth entering high school
Minimum Time Commitment: Volunteers are asked for a minimum of 10 days. The days can be
spread throughout the summer. They do not need to be consecutive. Many volunteers commit to more
than 10 days. Participants can schedule dates Tuesday through Thursday each week.

Description
Founded in 1966, the Nature Center teaches over 10,000 urban school children a year hands-on environmental education. It also produces many programs, workshops and special events throughout the year, and boasts lovely trails that meander through marsh, forest, field, stream and lake habitats.
