Are you interested in helping adult English as a Second Language students improve their skills? Our ESL Assistants help students during class time, teaching small groups, facilitating learning games, and working with individual students to increase their proficiency in English.
Our students tend to be low-wage immigrant workers, and need to know English to get fair compensation at work.
No prior experience is required. Volunteers must be available Monday or Wednesday from 7-9 PM, and interested in helping others learn a difficult yet valuable skill.
Our office is located at 11001 Midway Road, Dallas.
If you find yourself interested in teaching the class, that is an option too! We are recruiting volunteer instructors for our Spring 2019 course! Start off as an ESL assistant and transition into teaching, training and curriculum will be provided. All that would be required from you, would be a 2-hour commitment for a 12 week semester.
Email arlene@workersdefense.org if you're interested or have any questions!

Mission Statement
Workers Defense Project (WDP) is a membership-based organization that empowers low-income workers to achieve fair employment through education, direct services, organizing and strategic partnerships.
Description
WDP is a worker center and part of a national movement of organizations that seek to provide low-wage workers with the resources they need to improve their working and living conditions. The project provides a source of power and hope for low-wage workers who have little access to these important resources. WDP is one of the few organizations in Texas working to address workplace abuse faced by low-wage workers. The organization is one of the most established worker centers in the South and a leader in fighting for fair conditions for working people.
