LGBTQ+ San Diego

Volunteers play an integral role in fulfilling the San Diego History Center’s mission. Through their contributions of time and talents, volunteers provide support to all aspects of the organization’s operations and bring to life the history of San Diego for thousands of visitors each year.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team during the run of our exhibition LGBTQ+ San Diego: Stories of Struggles & Triumphs. Connect with like-minded individuals and meet new people, gain knowledge, and help tell the story of our community. Find out more about the exhibition here: http://sandiegohistory.org/exhibition/lgbtq-san-diego/.

We are currently recruiting volunteers for the role of tour guide/docent for that exhibition space.

DOCENTS
Docents facilitate interactive, inquiry-based tours for adult and school groups in order to spark visitors’ imaginations and stimulate their curiosity. SDHC docents play a vital role in creating memorable experiences by bringing history alive. SDHC staff will train docents to lead group tours of the LGBTQ+ exhibition. A required four-week training is provided starting in mid-July.
