Interested in making a difference as a family? Generation Hope is looking for volunteers as a family or group - including children - for our Next Generation Academy! Resource Families make a two-year commitment during which you will build a relationship with a Scholar and their child, open your networks, and directly invest in the early childhood success of a teen parent's little one. Resource Families commit to attend at least 6 monthly group dinners annually, connect your Scholar Family with your networks to help with a child's need, contribute at least $1,200/year (or $100 monthly) to the Educational Fund, which helps that child access high-quality childcare, and provide or collect Wish List items and school supplies for your Scholar family. This is a g reat opportunity to volunteer as a family or group (including children) in our Next Generation Academy! Please contact Michelle Avelino at michelle@ supportgenerationhope.org or at (202) 656-9539 for more information on this unique opportunity!

About Generation Hope
Location:
1401 Okie Street NE, Suite 300, WASHINGTON, DC 20002, US
Mission Statement
Generation Hope is a nonprofit organization that matches sponsors with teen parents who are attending college and are in need of financial and emotional support. Based on the belief that education is vital to success, its purposes are to give young parents and their children a support system as they pursue academic excellence, to provide a direct-support experience for sponsoring organizations and individuals, and to create a new generation of ambitious and successful families.
Description
This one-of-a-kind program, started by a former teen mother who wanted to see more teen parents beat the odds, matches teen parents (Scholars) who are attending college in the Washington, D.C. metro area with individuals, organizations, and local businesses (Sponsors) to participate in a mentoring relationship that includes emotional and financial support. This is a multi-year commitment, lasting until the Scholar receives their college degree.
We believe education is the best promise for teen parents to achieve stable and successful futures and consistent financial and emotional support increases the likelihood that they will graduate. When teen mothers and fathers earn college degrees, their children are less likely to live in poverty, and our communities are strengthened.
