If you have an interest in working with youth and helping them to become stronger and confident, then this volunteering opportunity is for you.

The Youth Leadership Academy of the Middletown Police Department needs volunteers to support and mentor youth. As a volunteer at this week-long character building camp, you have the opportunity to provide encouragement and inspiration to young people. A background in public safety or policing is preferred but not essential.

Two volunteers are needed to mentor 14 to 16 year old boys and girls. The boys’ session runs from July 9 to 13, 2018 and the girls’ session runs from July 30 to August 3, 2018. Both sessions run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m, Monday to Friday. You can volunteer at one or both of the sessions.

The minimum age to volunteer is 21 years.

The Academy promotes healthy choices, increases self-esteem and promotes life skills. The youth taking part in the program will learn structure, teamwork and build lasting friendships.

A full background check is required prior to being accepted for this volunteering opportunity.
