Mission Statement

To assist and champion the efforts of local United Ways in advancing the common good.

Description

United Way of Pennsylvania envisions a Commonwealth where all individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives. It believes this can be accomplished by building and sustaining a United Way network committed to community impact, collaboration and results.

United Way of Pennsylvania takes the lead in representing local United Ways' concerns before state policymakers, including the legislative and executive branches. UWP also supports federal level advocacy by United Way Worldwide. At both the state and national level, we call on leaders to adopt policies that support United Way goals regarding education, income, health and community strengthening-related issues.

United Way of Pennsylvania public policy advocacy is informed by the needs and priorities of our 62 member United Ways acting on behalf of their communities. UWP's involvement in advocacy is strictly nonpartisan, and we do not endorse candidates for office.
