The Lebanon County Early Childhood Outreach Coordinator VISTA will conduct community outreach to increase understanding of the importance of high-quality early education; to build trust and communication with targeted communities; and to encourage eligible families to access programs aimed at improving outcomes for their children. This individual will also assist in promoting early literacy, implementing family engagement strategies, and promote activities and resources for families of children attending Lebanon school district and surrounding areas throughout the county. The VISTA will take leadership in the following tasks:

  • Convene educational professionals to build consensus around what K-readiness means to create consistency throughout the county, strengthen relationships between early learning providers and school district personnel, and create positive transition strategies for children and families as they complete early learning programs and transition into the public-school systems.
  • Increase family knowledge and access regarding local early childhood education services and programs in Lebanon and surrounding areas. This will be executed by planning family engagement activities, creating a centralized communication system to alert parents to resources, and implementing a pop-up preschool initiative.
  • Convene and strengthen the direction of the Lebanon County P-3 collaboration team, develop branding for P-3 initiatives in Lebanon County to increase visibility, recognition, and families' awareness and confidence in available resources and programs.
  • Plan community events to increase families' knowledge of the importance of early learning skills, provide opportunities to model and teach families to have effective interactions with their children, and empower families to serve as their child's first teacher.
  • Work with school districts, early learning providers, and community agencies to build a volunteer driven literacy initiative. Collect info, build a framework, recruit, train and mobilize community volunteers.
  • Collect, track and organize necessary data to report on outputs and outcomes associated with the project.
