Assist a visually-impaired neighbor with kayaking goals in and around Boston

Do you live in or around Boston? Are you interested in making a difference in the life of a blind adult in your neighborhood? Do you have a passion for kayaking?

As a part of MABVI’s Volunteers for Vision program, you’ll assist a blind individual meet her kayaking goals.
She has purchased 2 season passes with Charles River Canoe & Kayak and is a strong intermediate paddler and can handle a single kayak. She has transportation to two launch sites (Kendall Square is preferred but she's familiar with Waltham) and can meet you there. She is also open to trying the Brighton launch site but is not as familiar with their boats or the orientation of the site.

What skills and experience are needed?

• An easy-to-understand voice
• Good communication skills

• Kayaking skills

• One-time volunteer training in our Brookline Office
• Support and guidance from our staff
• Volunteer events throughout the year

When will you be needed?
1-2 times a week for about two hours for each session. Weekends are preferred but weekdays could work too!
